result of poor maintenance, and the site had been evacuated in the knowledge that this might happen. Care to speculate on the consequences of the equivalent accident at one of the nuclear plants we are being expected to re-embrace?

I don't re-embrace those either, but a recent local falling over of a turbine in Cumbria was a spot unexpected.

You have to wonder how/why someone just happened to have a camera pointed at the turbine as it exploded.... :?

The "wuurring" sound track is not matched to the special effect, the same noise at it's fastest speed is the same quite a few seconds after the the lot disintegrated.

The protagonist of that scene will never become a good movie director- too fake-

Both the sequences on YouTube were filmed on camera phones by the engineers sent out to fix the problem, after they realised the problem couldn't be fixed and it might go "Pop"

I suppose I can understand that. If I'd been sent out to "fix" a turbine belting around at that kind of speed, I think I would have stood well back and pooped off a few shots.

No, I intended "pooped". It's a technical term used by those of us specialising in high art, cutting-edge photography. The opposite end of the spectrum to "snapped", if you will.
