Why not uPVC?

Phew! What a relief. When I read your thread title I thought it was going to be a treatise in support of uPVC windows.
I thought the cold and the isolation had finally driven you over the edge.
The brochure contains an excellent summary of why uPVC windows are a Work Of The Devil by any standard - aesthetics, durability, sustainability... and so on. It's interesting that Dulux have developed a special paint for them, in an effort to extend their life beyond 20 years.
However, I do think that Hastoe are grossly underselling timber windows.
... they say, implying that at long last modern man has managed to make a decent wooden window.
I wonder how many forum members have wooden window frames - even softwood ones - over 100 years old. I know I have.
And I reckon those lovely oak ones made by Mr V. could come with a 300 year guarantee.

Wood windows have come a long way... softwood windows now often come with a 30 year guarantee.

IME (in unrelated areas) that approach gets rid of the customers that dont know what theyre talking about. It stops a lot of silly-business. You're fortunate if you can run a business without dealing with those folk.
