Look at my kitchen. It's been like this for months now. Is this normal for the strange breed of people on PPUK.
Also I'm half way through restoring the sash window in the same room. The window has been fitted correctly for the first time ever!!! Even when the house was built it was recessed about an inch from the inner face of the reveal. I found out when I took the window out that the bricks sitting on the window head behind the filler arch onto which the brick arch was built were too high sloping from flush with the arch at the front to higher than the arch at the back, so rather than cut the bricks down, the original builders must have just pushed the window back a little, built over it and then put extra wooden strips over the front linings to make up the gap and then scotia over that to cover the gap. Cowboys in every generation!
