Hi everyone, first post here!
Me and my husband are considering moving into an Edwardian property soon which features a large cast iron stove/ range in the kitchen- I'm not entirely sure what it is but looks like a mini aga, all black, wider then a stove and with doors. I'm thinking it's a woodburner but I really don't know, nor does owner. It is possibly Victorian, it's not original to the property, but other then the fact it doesn't work we know nothing about them or how we go about repairing it. Honestly, I've never seen one in person let alone know how to use it so I really want someone to take a look at it and tell us what it is and what needs to be fixed so we CAN enjoy it, otherwise it's a rather large lump of metal taking up a lot of space for no good reason. The current owner is selling the property mid renovation so it was on her list of things to do, but the task has now fallen into our hands. It's based in Kent.
Can anyone recommend an expert in the general area (ie Within 60 miles of Kent/London) who will repair and restore this stove for us as I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Google has thrown up a lot of companies selling restored stoves and ranges but none seem to offer restoration services. I would rather restore this one then buy another as there is history to it and I'm all for salvage. I've read there is potentially an asbestos problem which is why I'd like a pro to help take a look.
I'd appreciate any responses. Thank you
