Over the last few months, one particular corner of an unused fireplace in our dining room has developed a white furry substance which I can't get rid of. It looks kind of like white candy floss and is growing on the red brick side mostly but also on the limestone wall and on the quarry tile floor (strangely much more on the red than the black ones).
At first I thought it was just a simple mould problem (we've had some condensation problems which have eased now the heating is on more). But I've cleaned it with a bleach/water solution and it's back within a week.
Has anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
