Which type of bulbs are being phased out?

I'm starting to get ideas about designing a chandelier for our lounge but this has got me thinking about what bulb holders to use. I know some bulbs are being phased out but I don't know which ones. Does anyone know? Which would be the best type to use for bulb availability and looks? Thanks

The way things are going all incandescent lamps of all types will eventually go.
Unfortunately the present group of low-energy consumption lamps are both plain ugly and don't dim... or don't dim very well.

For future economy, I suggest using lamp sockets of either BC (bayonet clip) or ES (standard edison screw) not the smaller versions of either.

For looks, use either smaller version and get a good stock of halogen lamps :wink:

However they need a robust dimmer to start them.

Those look fantastic for all sorts of reasons. Thank you so much, Lime I have to admit I was rather confused with the vast array available and the phasing out added to the mix. This has solved this particular part of the design. Huge thanks again
