Where to buy a property - choosing perfect location

Just wanted to let you know that now there is a very powerful map based search tool available - https://www.whatiswhere.com which you can use while researching areas before buying/renting a property.

You can for instance find all postal codes in London where there is a school, train station and your favorite shopping center (e.g. Tesco) all within certain distances from the area center.
You can search for all areas where there is a grammar school. You can do more complicated searches like give me all areas along Metropolitan underground line which contain some object you care about (i don't know, e.g. Cinema )

You can use search by name, keyword, object type, exact and wildcard search. You can apply multiple criteria at the time.

I must say, when we were searching, those aspects were not a consideration. We were seeking an unspoilt period house, its location was secondary and surrounding modern conveniences came nowhere on the score sheet. Unspoilt period houses - those unvisited by the plastic window plaster board white paint insulation brigade - are increasingly hard to find.

Talking of conveniences, there is however a programme that we are finding increasingly useful - here it is

I would say flood risk should be more important than how close it is to Tescos, but that's just me.

I understand that my site is probably not so useful for people searching for period properties. I just wanted you to know that there is a site for sophisticated points of interest search. My site allows to search for toilets among other things as well.

Fair enough. WhatIsWhere is to help you with search of POIs rather than providing specific details about floods, traffic, etc.

Though example with Tescos is just one of many things you can do with WhatIsWhere search.
