I heard the end of the radio programme just now.
Apparently it took Biff 4 days to travel the length of the A1 by bus - about the same as horse-drawn coaches many years ago.
No wonder the car caught on!

I'm hacked off that I missed Biff. I had that A1 piece on Radio 4 playing in the background while I was busy with stuff, so I didn't really listen.

With the marvels radio editing they managed to snip out most of what I recorded, thankfully.

One bit they missed concerned the necessity to start on a Friday since the E7 from Baldock to Sandy only runs on a Friday. The 566 from St.Neots to Huntingdon does not run on Saturday or Sunday so one gets an enforced weekend stop at St.Neots.

The implication that I am anywhere near bus-pass age has as much foundation as the naming of a Blue Peter cat. But hey, that's showbiz.

I didn't actually get on any busses. No travel beyond my swivel chair was involved in the making of this programme. It was all done with computer, a telephone and the magic of radio.

Actually both did travel, they simply came home for tea and a clean vest in between.

Mmmmmm. Nearer than to your children's free travel. Anyhow, you can't go to Embra on an English bus pass. So I sorta twigged it was showbiz.

A query - does the Sandy to Baldock run on the same Friday? Or do you have to wait week for the return journey?
