Where can I get a single ceramic hob?

I'm after a single, preferably black, ceramic hob. Not a big ask but they all seem to be about 51cm in depth. I want one that's probably half that depth but I can't seem to find any. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks.

keep your eyes peeled at Aldi or Lidl, they regularly offer single ceramic induction hobs very cheaply (£30ish?) They are standalones not insets but i bet they could be adapted. Induction is great, but pans must be ferrous based.

Ditto. (This one looks like a single, it's difficult to tell for certain from the picture).

By the way, Jaqy, I assume you know that these are induction hobs - they will only work with ferrous cooking vessels.

I was told that the best way to test the pans is to see if a magnet will stick to them. If it does you're good to go, if not the pan won't heat on an induction hob. A cheap fridge magnet is all you need to use. Our tenants complained that the hob didn't work, but once we had them use the right pans the problem went away :lol:

Assuming they're the cast iron Le Creuset type, yes, they should be fine (but try the magnet test before spending any money!).

My le Creusets work fine with induction. As was said earlier, aluminium wont and nor will copper bottomed or copper cored pans. But heavy cast iron is always ok.
