What should i use to cut old quarry tiles.

I've got 18mm thickness quarry tiles. What would you suggest to cut them with (the reclaim tiles ill be buying to replace some).

I've got a dremmel tool but not sure if it be enough for any discs for it.

Should I rent a machine if so what would anyone recommend as these floor tiles are tough. Thanks

A diamond disk is recommended, either in an angle grinder or in a dedicated tile cutter. I have used both

I have a Dremel, but I wouldn't try and cut a tile with it, suggestion above sounds better.

A wet diamond tile cutter, or angle grinder with diamond disk as Craig says. Either will be messy, cut outside, wear goggles and (for the grinder) a dust mask.

Not worth hiring one, £50 will buy you one. I've had one very similar to this for about 25 years now:-

Have used it for cutting bricks and tiles. Despite much abuse it keeps going, and discs last for ages if you wet cut. Keep it for good or sell it on facebook marketplace or similar for say £30 after you've used it, hence why I say not worth hiring one.

Mine was especially good value, it cost me a £3 lunch in the staff canteen, to nab it from the power tools buyer when I worked at B&Q's head office!

If you do decide to use an angle grinder, don't use the segmented disks. They have a tendency to chip the edges of what ever you are cutting. So worth getting some good quality plain disks.

I have that exact one that Feltwell suggested, it's done me well for years. It'd be fine with 18mm tiles although there obviously is a limit on how thick it can cut. I don't know what the limit is, the specification must say. You use it wet. It makes a hell of a mess so do it outside.
