What is the best paint.

I have recently removed an old cast iron fire.
It has been sandblasted and repainted using a stove black heat resistant paint from "Hotspot".
However although the finish looks good, if you touch it, it marks, smudges is the best description.
Any ideas? Do I try an alternative product or count my loses.Thanks

Personally I don't like the look of matt black paint on iron fire surrounds. I much prefer the glowing "black lead" look that you get with grate polish. But if you decide you would like this, I'm afraid you'll need to get the paint off with stripper first.

I ssume you know stove paint needs to be heated up to set it properly.
