What Heating? - but in a barn

We are trying to work out what will be the best way to heat a stone barn in the curtilage of our GII house. We are repairing the building and relaying the existing brick and coble floors after we have put in services so that we can use the barn as a games/cinema room and childrens'/husband hangout.

We intend on heating the space with a woodburning stove when we are using it. Is there anyway of providing background heating to the building to stop the contents from getting damp when we are not in it, apart from using storage heaters? We do not have gas in the village and really do not want to use oil for heating.

I was wondering why you were putting fishing boats (cobles) onto your floor!
Won't cobbles be rather bumpy and unsafe in a play room?
Could setts be used instead? They'd make tables and chairs less wobbly and reduce the risk of turned ankles.

The barn is divided into two rooms which is why heating is not so simple. We relaying the original floors in the barn which is cobble in one room and brick in the other.

If you are relaying the floors anyway, surely some form of underfloor heating is the best idea. If you only need it as background heating, then what about a small ground source heatpump?
