... yes, I know it sounds a daft question. We want to make some changes in the layout of our Victorian cottage, which has been mucked about with by amateurs for many years.
In particular I need to know which are the supporting walls, which bits have been added or changed and what is feasible/advisable to do in terms of making alterations to the existing layout. And if I can afford it, I'd be glad to have an architect draw up some plans for alterations. I've never used the services of an architect nor do I know anyone who has, so I'd like to know if I could expect to get the above sort of info from one and if their fees are likely to be scary.
In addition, do architects generally have contacts with reliable builders etc?
