What colour

Hi I will be painting the windows this summer on my house,At the moment their black and white (sash bays) Iwould like to paint them another colour in keeping with the house(Victorian) can anyone suggest any,I was thinking Green and cream?

I quite like the old railway colours - maroon and cream (aka rhubarb and custard), brown and cream (aka far too rude to post here) and malachite green.
Looking at the windows on our place, brown was very popular, as we had about five shades of the stuff.

As ever, a photograph of your house would be helpful.

Come to think of it, if you have Photoshop or something similar you could try out all sorts of colour-schemes on your computer.

Try Holkham Green aka Invisible Green.

I believe Invisible Green is so called because it sort of merges with the darkness of the glass in the window, thus rendering the windows almost invisible.
I confess that I'm not too keen on it - for that very reason. To me, it makes the windows look like gloomy, gaping holes in the building.

But who shall be the arbiter elegantiae?

(Phew - that was a close one. But I think I got away with it.)

Remember, Penners, that our house is rendered and the walls are painted a very light sludgy greeny beige, so the dark paint doesn't looks as gloomy as it would have done if the walls were brick. In that case I think I'd probably have chosen a much lighter colour.
