And the reason why the PPUK Forum was suspended for a while is - the Period Property UK site has moved from one host to another! But hopefully that should be completely transparent to you all and the forum will continue to provide a great place for sharing tips and experiences about our period dwellings. Thanks for your patience whilst the forum was offline.
What the move has allowed us to do is introduce a new Property section. Yes we know that it's got a different appearance from the rest of the site (and the majority of the properties are in East Anglia), and we'll work on that, but it presents the properties so much better and the property search facility of the new Property section is so much better than that of the former property section. The PPUK shop is offline but will be back soon.

Yes, hooray! we are back. I look forward to trawling the new property section and sincerely hope that it does not throw up a property that I would have bought!!!!! All too late now!!!

Typical though that having been checking daily for the forum to be up and running, I noticed this morning it was.....just as we were about to set off for a road trip to Wales so I've been unable to catch up with everyone's news till now :roll:

Still, I was looking for something to fill my long aching hours of spare time as according to them I have nothing interesting to post on the Other Place, so re-engaging with PPUK probably fits the bill.

Although my browser is upset because the security cert doesn't match and, after I post, I get a Page Can't Be Displayed and I have to log in again.
And I still can't see picture links, which has been the case since the the forum was off air a day or so, a few months ago.
Oh well, nice to be back, and thankyou to Simon for continuing to run the show.

Someone said the site won't accept pictures: I think there's a limit of 250k per pic and three per posting ...

IE9 is old. The latest is IE11, which caused so many problems on my PC that I removed it.
Have you tried Chrome or Firefox? Either will import your "favourites" from IE (and call them "bookmarks"). Both work well and cause fewer problems than IE.

Could be IE11, it updated itself. But this picture problem preceded the latest browser update.
Adobe was trying to load Chrome this morning. Perhaps I should give it a go.
I hate change. Mainly because I feel only marginally confident with the computer and I'm terrified of the danged thing going wrong.

Image linking still look good from here.
The way I do it is click the 'Img' tag above the box where you write stuff which places this on the page (the green writing is the code I entered):
Then put the link to the picture between the 'img' things like this
And it ends up looking like this:
It can't be down to the browser as it's all entered as text on the forum.

You're right to reject Adobe's attempts to load stuff: it is on commission, and will mess with your search engine settings, home page settings, etc. It needs to be watched carefully!
Download Chrome direct from the website. If you Google "chrome download" you will probably see an Ad saying "Download Google Chrome - google.com", then various others.
About fourth in the list is the simple one, labelled "Download and install Google Chrome - Chrome Help". Click that, and it should let you choose Windows, Mac, or Linux. Click the relevant system, and follow the destructions. Let it import your IE settings, and all your "Favorites" will be copied over.
I suspect that after a few minutes getting used to the different shape and feel, you'll like it better than IE.

I am having trouble inserting pictures now. I get a message which says "Sorry, the board quota has been reached." Is there any way round this?
