Weather Boarding and Insulation

I am planning on weather boarding in oak the end of my timber frame house and insulating with wool. What is the best way to approach this as I'm starting from a open frame. Do I need to use OSB boarding, breather membranes etc.... if so in what order.

Well, I'll stick my amateur neck out and tell you what I think I would do.

Starting from the inside and working out: -

Vapour control backed plasterboard on inside of the timberframe
Thermal insulation in cavity
OSB on outside of the timberframe (if the frame is already stable and well wind-braced this might be omitted)
Breathable membrane
PT counterbattens
Oak weatherboarding

But if one of this panel's professionals disagrees with me - go with their advice, not mine!

Not one to disagree, so i agree! More or less what I would have said too.

In this case, what (if anything) would you advise for between the lath and the thermal insulation?

In my inexpert view, it would be sensible to have some form of vapour barrier on the hot side of the insulation so as to stop condensation forming within the insulation.

Agreed - so if you're not using vapour-control-backed plasterboard, then a vapour barrier on the inner face of the insulation would be a good plan.
