Waxing very old floorboards ?

Hi all, it's me again. Thanks for all your advice re waxing our beams. Can I ask is liquid beeswax what we should be using on our boards too ? Sorry to be a pain, but there seems to be such an array of products out there.

We used 'black bison' on some new oak ones and I tried it out later on our old 17th c ones. Worked a treat and is not slippy, but the old elm ones have not been stripped, just washed and 'bisoned'.

I used a Liberon liquid floor wax - easy to paint on, and then polish up once its dried. We applied it after two coats of oil (Osmo I think)

Waxing gives a lovely finish on floorboards. It's not as durable as a modern chemical varnish, but is easy to recoat over the existing finish. Once they're worn, chemical finishes have to stripped before you can refinish.

Johnson's Traffic Wax is said to be about as durable as waxes get.

I am looking forward to the finish I will get after 10 coats in 10 years. Will take a while...
