We have just sanded down a 30 year old oak floor. It looks fabulous. I am considering using a hard wax to finish it as I like the lustre it gives and it seems more traditional. Has anyone experience of doing this?
I have done a section of HWO (2 coats) and it darkens the wood more than 5 coats of wax and has less lustre.
Is the wax a feasible option? I understand I would need to use 5 coats of the wax which on 50sq m is going to be an awful lot of work!
For maintenance I plan just to re-wax areas of traffic as needed.
Your thoughts are appreciated
