We have a 200 hundred year old stone house. The walls are two feet feet thick made up of two layers of stone with rubble in the middle which is typical of the houses in this area. We have spent the summer removing the cement pointing and replacing with lime. We have also bagged the interior walls with lime in the living room recently. After heavy rain you can see around the window where the water has come through and left damp patches on the lime bagging which is being left to cure before painting. I am rather concerned that you can see the damp patches as I thought repointing inside and out would reduce the amount of water that would come though the walls. I do understand that the water still would have come through and subsequently been trapped inside but still wonder if we have done something wrong.
