Watching Paint Dry

For ages I have been stripping some horrible old lacquer from the internal door and panel frame from hall to kitchen. The door has recessed panels and the panelling goes through a 17" wall, so there's been a lot of gunk to remove from the nicely shaped architrave. Today I made t'other half very happy as, at last, I have applied the first top coat to the whole thing. The paint is water based eggshell which dries pretty quickly; wanting to relax at last, I just found there's nothing on TV right now, so I have been literally "watching the paint dry"! :lol:

So is it like a watched pot, and takes longer to dry if you are actually watching it?

It's quite interesting as paint goes, this water based eggshell acrylic. It goes on very easily ("Do NOT overbrush") and then the colour (eau de nil) improves as it dries. When dry, you can see quite plainly that it needs another coat, which I did yesterday and J was positively ecstatic - "Just the look I wanted when we bought this house" etc. Overnight (I wasn't watching it) the colour has improved further and I quite like it now as well. It's by Laura Ashley (don't think I've ever bought anything from her before!!).

Z - I would post a photo but being in the middle of the house I have trouble getting decent light on it, and my camera has a flash which would show it as a different colour.
