Which - the Blue Peter or our wedding anniversary trip?

I have to say the Blue Peter was a great find last night, watched it twice!

The trip was wonderful too! Interesting that the Blue Peter was at a time when the line was under threat of closure as the viaduct was in such need of repair.

(Yes I know, I know - I confess to many late night YouTube raids watching steam loco videos..)

I walked yesterday along part of the South Tyne trail, and over Lambley Viaduct II* - a beautiful walk and so pleased that was rescued too from its stste of disrepair (the largest lime mortar contract in Europe at the time) but oh how I wish the line was still open.

Have to point out the portico is by Prosser though, and the extra spans by Bell. But yes - one of the greatest stations anywhere.

I love that time, waiting with camera to hear the first sounds in the distance, and see the first plume.

It's never straightforward, you can wait quite some time as timetables can be disrupted, but it always makes the hairs on the back of my head stand up!

Heading north out of Garsdale Head station you'd need to look left as you appoach the Garsdale Viaduct. This is, approximately, the view out of the window, so you'd need to look in the opposite direction.

That one passed us - the Hadrian includes the lovely Tyne Valley route - unfortunately we were in the Lake District!
