Hi,
I have the upper bay sill of a Victorian property that either needs repair or full replacement of the stone, prior to a full replacement of the sash windows. During summer I excavated some of the weather sandstone sill and filled with Toupret Exterior Masonry filler, potentially not the best option, but I wanted to weather proof it for the time being.
I'm understanding the pillars are load bearing so full replacement is not as trivial as it seems, although to get the best finish in restoring the property this would be my preference, but the concerns are a source of anxiety.
Part of me thinks this type of work must be a day to day solved problem, given the age of the properties; is there any advice with such works and how you would go about sourcing the required expertise? (e.g. what skills to ask about).
