victorian foundry marks

I am renovating my Victorian semi and have temporarily removed the original cast-iron fire insert. Can anyone please advise me where I can find information to decode the foundry mark ? It will help me date the property.

If you mean the diamond mark if you post the numbers and letters clockwise from the top I'll date it for you.

on the house. Do you know if "Rd" was the moniker
for the foundry ?

I think you will find it was short for registered.

There were a few major foundries which made cast iron fireplaces. They produced trade catalogues.

Can you post a pic?

If you really wish to identify the foundry Ironbridge mat be able to help.

The number 2 refers to the foundry which made it.

While searching for foundry no. 2 I found this site. It is designed for glass makers and so won't find Class I (metal) goods but still comes up with the correct date.

Peter and Evelyn - lozenges come
straightaway - pics take a little longer - especially
as I`ve taken it apart to clean up the tiles. Now
