Victorian Foundations

Hi there everyone!

Thanks to take the time to read this post. For an assignment I need to research the difference between Victorian Housing Foundations, and a modern 2-storey house of masonry wall construction. If anyone could give me any information of what is used in Victoria foundations and how they differ to now, and where I could get any sketches or pictures I would be extremely grateful. Also it would be the same with External Walls, if anyone has any information on them aswell.

Don't you have access to a library or are you hoping someone will e-mail you the completed assignment?

The other difference is the depth. In extremis a modern build next to a Victorian might have 30x the depth of foundation. Not usually anywhere near that much, but sometimes.

3 brick deep foundations were common in Vic times.
