I'm planning on building a veranda style roof at the back of my house and don't want to use modern glazing bars and polycarbonate. Any ideas on how to fix lamiated glass on to wooden rafters. I've seen a victorian house, similar to our with a glazed canopy over the door and this seems to have wooden glazing beads.

Why not copy what the old-timers did. , Gets a piece of 2" X 2", machine a rebate in each side, say 1 1/2 " down and 3/4" in, so you have a rough inverted T shape. tosh nail them on to the top of your beams. Slap on some clear silicone goo on to each horizontal section, put your glass in. More silicone on top of the glass edge, press some glazing beading down on the silicone and pin beading into the vertical section. After 24 Hrs, razor blade the excess silicone bead and pull off. Be prepared to repaint every 2 years. 
Or get some modern placcy glazing bars, to suit your glass thickness mount on top of your beams. making sure the fixings are well countersunk. Put in glass, snap top section in. Every 2 years, spend 2 days out in the garden drinking Martini. :lol:

Yes, I used to have a conservatory glazed with putty. It leaked.
I now have a conservatory on which silicone has been used. It also leaks. I think it's a feature of conservatories.
You just have to arrange the plants strategically in wet weather.
