ventilation

Hello,
I have a 1899 end terraced house which I am renovating.I am confused about whether or not to provide ventilation for the (1st) floor void,to prevent damp,perhaps with air bricks.
I only ever find info on ground floor ventilation,does any one have any idea about upper floor ventilation?

There should be no need for ventilation to 1st floor joists. It would also make the house extremely cold!
If you have to lift the ground floor floorboards, or you can get access from underneath, it is well worth insulating these as part of the job. There are several ways to do this. Mike

Ground floor suspended wood sits above wet earth, hence the need to ventilate. As Mike says, there is no need to with other floors.

Thanks to Mike & NT for the advice,the floor is nearly done now,which brings me on to my next concern.
I am intending to insulate the outside walls of my 1899 end terrace (solid brick),with something like airtec or equivalent (see NASA insulation thread).This would be stapled onto 2"x1" battens and boarded over, ie drylined.I am wondering if I should provide some ventilation behind this,or just fill the void with more insulation?Would this trap moisture from penetrating damp for instance?
Any advice is appreciated,thanks in advance.
