I’ve just bought a 1920s bungalow. It was owned by 2 ladies who hadn’t maintained the property so needed lots of upgrading. The building surveyor thought it hadn’t been properly heated for a while but noted higher than normal humidity in the loft. The roof was the one thing the owners had done installing a new breathable membrane but relaying the original tiles. I had a roofer out to ask about adding vents to the soffits as recommended by the surveyor. He was dead set against it as he said birds could get in and it could cause no end of problems. Is he right? Bit confused about what to do.
