Venetian plastering - any experiences?

Thinking of using this in our downstairs shower room which will be a wet room instead of tiling. Any experiences of it - good or bad?
Was just thinking in the actual shower area so it will get wet but from what I can see some of it is waterproof and polished like glass.

Anyone? Someone must have used it or know someone that has.
Seems like a viable alternative to tiles.

I guess unfortunately nobody does! It looks like an awful lot of work, although I'm sure it would be beautiful.

I have used it and yes it is lime plaster so can cope with getting wet. I am not convinced that it would cope with being battered by power shower water a couple of time a day though. Lime plaster is ot particularly hard. After all, exterior lime plaster has to be regularly repinted with a sacrificial coat of limewash

I had a boyfriend in Italy who did Venetian plaster throughout our house (in Italy). It didn't appear to be that difficult although was a lot of work. He wasn't a plasterer or anything, but was pretty good at DIY.

It would stand up fine to general wear, and you could use it on bathroom walls, but I have never seen or heard of anyone using it for a wet area. Not sure I would try. Even though it is very shiny, there are areas that aren't - a bit like with real marble with veins etc.
