VAT

I have had listed building approval and am having a conservatory installed,
and have been told that new work to the fabric of a listed building should not carry VAT,is this true and if so how do I go about getting it waved. :?:

(Huh. Conservatories? They'll be asking for the blooming Olympics to be VAT free next)

we'd be in for a huge windfall if we could claim any of the VAT back for the repair work done on our house just to make it dry and liveable, takes the Michael really!

maybe we should have let the front of our house carry on falling down, and installed a conservatory to live in instead, we might even have received a grant for it!!!! :?
