Uploading picture problem

I noticed that whenever I upload pictures the right hand side of them is cropped off, making the centre of the subject well over to the right. Why is this? I use Photobucket and they all look fine on there. Thanks for any help.

They may need resizing in terms of pixels x pixels. It happens to me too, and I wish I could remember how many pixels wide they need to be to fit.
Someone who knows will be along shortly, no doubt.

Thanks, Gareth. Some peoples pictures get scroll bars if they're too big. I wonder why ours get cropped? Weird.

The magic width is 766 pixels. More than this and it gets cropped.
Edit - This is only true for people with a screen the same width as mine. The width before crop in the general case is approx 75% of the screen width. Obviously this will change from viewer to viewer. Most people have at least a 1024 pixel wide screen so an image 700 pixels wide is generally sensible

If you link to an image on photobucket / flickr or any external site, the image will be width cropped like this. The height can be anything I believe.

If instead, you upload the image to the PPUK site using the attachment button, it will put scroll bars on the image if it is too large. However, if you click on the image to remove the scroll bars, it will still crop the width of the image.

Personally, I prefer the first method.
