Last weekend we finally managed to finish the laying of the limcrete floors, approx 34 sq mtr, plus glass foam insulation. Just wanted to ask you all the next layer will be the screed for the UFH, what is the minimun screed depth we can get away with, we have managed to gain approximately 3 inches of head height using a 50ml screed, but some people are now saying it will need to be deeper, which of course is annoying as we would have taken this into account when digging out, also what is the mix for the screed, to enable a nice smooth/level finish. After this will be the flagstones how have people fitted theres to continue to allow breathability. I have seen some lovely flagstones but they are approx £50 sq mtr we have about 70 sq mtr to do plus the new extension. What costs have others found, I like the darker york stone effect, dont really fancy reclaimed, as despite living in a higgly piggly cottage I couldnt live with a mish mashed floor, also the depth of them would wipe out our height.
Next job is to repair ceiling joist, theyre hanging in mid air  then its electrics and overhauling the lime plaster and insulation, We have ordered the windows and received a bargain quote so really happy there too Now we just need to repeat all on the other half of the house.
I dont know if anyone remembers but when we first purchased the cottage there was a mix up over listing, Having discussed this with the CO at one point she said we wernt listed then later found a list description which matched out house, but the address was wrong, and the picture on Images of england shows a different house also, does anyone know where we stand on this, it says in the EH website that it is the address that is the legal part is this correct?
It doesnt really make that much difference to us as we still applied for LBC and everything we are doing is for the benefit of the house both structurally and looks wise. Plus because we had several meetings the CO everything that we have applied for has been granted. I have to say we have been very lucky to have a CO that is very practical in her approach to restoring the house for modern living. Just wondered thats all!
