What splendid stained glass! I suppose there is a chance that a sympathetic buyer will keep that but I don't hold out much hope for the fitted kitchen cupboards. I have similar in my house and everyone (including the conservation officer and my partner) says "Take those out" but I am hoping that with the assistance of a good joiner I can keep most of them. That is the sort of period feature that gets lost so easily

Ok - I'm absolutely in love with the kitchen cupboards! (Not the sink mind you).
Hard to tell from my PC screen, but looks like the bedroom/living-room windows have been replaced with Aluminium double glazed units (or thin-frame PVC) but the previous owner has preserved the stained glass in the new frames?

Fantastic! But one just knows it's all going to get wrecked (sorry, modernised). I'm feeling sad about it already.
If it were me I'd leave it exactly as it is, apart from putting in a proper period sink and restoring the black tiles behind the bath.
Perhaps there should be a Belfast sink with a frilly curtain in front?

Still very satisfying that little gems like these still come up. As I lived in two 30's semi's until I was 18, it brings back great memories, even silly things like the tin opener on the kitchen cupboards that can be detached.
Sadly, it is white UPVC windows all round, however, it looks like they are identical to the house next door which often helps with the blending in. Nothing worse than one semi having windows in white, and the other having them in fake baby poo brown.
Nothing a good clean up wouldn't sort!

I tried to buy a similar house to this. It even had the original bakelite fuse box and the bakelite round pin sockets on the skirting boards. the owners used adaptors to run modern appliances. I think everything was as the day it was made apart from the carpets perhaps. The people that bought it immediately changed everything. i was particularly disappointed by the destruction of the art deco fireplaces and inclusion of mock Victorian ones.

Wonderful time warp. I don't think that I have ever seen such beautiful windows--love the ships. Oddly though, there is an almost contemporary feel in the kitchen I don't think it will be long before the bathroom colours catch on again!

Not quite untouched, but remarkably well preserved nonetheless.Friends of ours bought something similar in Nottinghamshire and looked at us like we were mad when we suggested they save the beautiful stained glass windows which were as impressive as these. They promptly ripped them out and lord knows what else besides so I expect someone will come along and do likewise to this house.
Aren't buildings like these, potential historic buildings of the future and shouldn't at least the better examples from each decade be saved from wanton 'modernisation' via Listing ? Would love to know what C.O.s think of this.

Yes, you are right houses like these should become the historic houses of the future. I suppose houses of this era go un noticed as they are often on the suburbs/outskirts of towns--if, like our earlier architectural gems they were in the centre or around a green they would be more noticeable and there would be an outcry if they were to be overly altered.

I sometimes watch "Homes Under the Hammer" in fascinated horror. The presenters wax lyrical about the original features which are then rarely mentioned when the "renovated" house is shown minus them but to a triumphant shushing noise.
