Just had a little thought.....don't mock!
The house we are in was built c.1820+/-20yrs and has no dpc.
It was underpinned late 1980's early 90's and according to the underpinning plan and what we have seen while lowering the outside ground levels this was carried out under all the walls, both internal and external. I can't remember now, but it was either 600mm or 900mm deep
So far we have aired the house and lit fires in all available hearths since we moved in at the end of June. It was a bit dampy for a few weeks!
Now the cold weather is coming (we have had two frosts so far) and I'm waiting for the condensation to start appearing. I've popped some of that double glazing film on the landing and bathroom windows (which I have to say has worked bl@@dy well as a temp measure) and made sure the extractor goes on in the kitchen. We are still lighting the fires and the stove is banked up to last the night. Occasionally we turn an oil rad on. No central heating (yet).
Plenty of rain. Baths, showers, cooking, cleaning and someone working on a computer most days at home.
Anyhow after the rambley scene setting. I'm surprised at the complete lack of damp. No damp smells, no condensation, nothing - and no, I'm not showing off, it may yet all come to bite me in the @ss at some point.
The question is this....has the concrete underpinning created a dpc of sorts :?:
Your thought will be much appreciated!
