Underfloor heating under pine floorboards

Hi, looking at installing underfloor heating under pine floorboards. We have access from the cellar to the underside of the floor and wondering if this is feasible. The floor is partly tiled (done about 10 years ago) and partly bare floorboards but we're thinking of installing parquet in the none tiled rooms. Anyone got experience of this?

You need to speak to a builder. My neighbour has underfloor heating under pine boards. I think you insulate with rigid foam board and then theres a structure which goes on top that houses the network of plastic pipe work.

I know of UFH being done with 18mm caber board over the top. It works, sort of, but response is very slow. With 1" or so floorboards the response will be even slower. You will also need the insulation on the underside to be very effective otherwise the heat will find it easier to get out in that direction.

If you are going to have a different finish then it would be better to use an overlay system on top of the boards. This might not be ideal because of the increase in finished level and you'll still need good insulation underneath the whole lot.

Yeah, we're planning to insulate under the floor boards anyway. Trying to avoid an increase in floor height above as the plan is to lay parquet which will need to be the natural wood on an engineered base stuff as I think reclaimed won't like the U/F heating.
