I am wanting to put some electric underfloor heating in the two downstairs rooms of my cottage. I want to insulate under the cables. My concern is that as there is no damp course under the floor (I don't particularly want one as the cottage is built out of chalk block and breathes happily keeping the damp out), if I lay Marmox boards or other bonded polysyrene tiles to the floor the will trap the damp in and cause problems later. Someone suggested Pavatherm which is wood fibre board used for insulating roofs and vapour permeable. Having looked at the spec, my concern is that if any damp does get trapped in there they will rot. Has anyone had any experienc of Pavatherm boards?? Do you think that the intermittant use of the heating will drive any damp out of the boards and prevent rotting? Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
