We're in the process of having our loft insulation topped up and I mentioned to the contractor that we are also considering both insulation and sound-proofing under the ground floor (above the cellar).
Some may recall that our cellar flooded at the New Year and we have a pump installed on a float switch. It has 2 natural wells in the cellar and is rather damp..although not wet.
The contractor suggested rockwool between the floor joists (with a special kind of insulation for sound proofing the pump noise).
Questions...
1. Does anyone know anything about sound-proofing insulation?
2. Assuming we did use mineral wool, could this cause damp problems to the floorboards and joists?
Before anyone suggests it, we would have liked to use Thermafleece...but the cost was just too high
