In our kitchen, have uncovered large blue lias flags, under 2" of concrete, they look to be in good condition, no cracks or splits. On top of them, is what I believe to be a thin layer of bitumen, patchy and on all the flags. When scraped, some of it comes off and some of it with a payer of flag. Our builder wanted to seal and we said NO. He has also suggested using a machine to grind a smal layer off them., My instinct tells me no, however would like to remove the back stuff. Tried using wire brush and chissle, both appear inadequate for the job. Having new kitchen fitted, hopefully this year!
