Type of rear door for Georgian house

We have a couple of doors to the rear of our house - one is the kitchen door the other the back door from the hall. We were thinking of replacing the existing wooden doors with wooden stable doors. Would this be appropriate / in keeping with the age of the house (1777)? The kitchen is pretty dark and we are keen that the top half clear glass.
Any top tips would be very much appreciated.

As it is your back door, then I would think that you really can justify creating some much needed light,just have the top panels exchanged for glass, or have a door made up in the same dimensions, with glass in the top 4 panels, leaving the 2 solid wood panels at the bottom

Our house-before-last had a very grand back door (off the back hall, not the one off the scullery). It rather puzzled us until we worked out that when the house had been extended (more than doubled in size!) some time in the early C19th and they wanted a bigger front door, they'd sensibly recycled the old one.
