Talking of TV programmes, did anyone see "How To Build a Cathedral" last night? It wasn't exactly an in-depth study, but very interesting and beautiful nonetheless.

that was a lovely collection of properties - the tudor farmhouse was my fave i think

apart from yours Paul obviously - wow - that is a fabulous house - I especially like the double doors into the lounge - (I've got a thing for joinery!!)

Q - did you furnish the lounge etc or were items there ?
Q - have you lived there long?

Thanks, Shelli. We've lived here 4 years. Just about to to start rebuild of the tall chimney stack that's capped and missing on the front side. Once you know it should be there, its obvious. You can see it in the TV shot of the plans.

We've spent time buying appropriate furniture. Just lifted the carpets and restoring the wooden strip flooring.

Gonna replace the uPVC next year..... :roll:

This episode is repeated on Tuesday. Should be on Sky somewhere, for those outside Wales.

I suppose you are lucky in a way that authentic edwardian / arts & Crafts furniture is still fairly easy to get hold of - but unlucky in that arts & crafts is sush a popular period that everything is sooo expensive

good luck with the rebuild of stack

- think carefully before removing UPVC though - Did you know it doesn't actually need any maintenance and can enhance the look of a property ! (According to Everest anyway)

How did they get away with plastic DG - isn't your splendid house listed?

It was Listed after (and largely as a result of) the uPVC.

So presumably that means you'll need LBC to replace the uPVC with those awful, primitive wooden window things.

The official line is that replacment would be viewed very favourably....

So, just need LBC and an unexpected windfall.....
