Two new sponsored articles recently added to PPUK

Two new sponsored articles have recently been added to the 'Articles' section of the PPUK Directory by Paul Trace, Managing Director of Tuscan Foundry Products.

Firstly there's "Preserving Traditional Rainwater Systems" in which he explains why preserving and maintaining a rainwater system contributes immensely to the external appearance of a property and prevents structural damage.

Then there's "A light solution for Period Properties" about choosing rooflights for historic properties undergoing renovation.

The rooflight article is very interesting - as is the Tuscan Foundry website, which links through to www.lumenrooflight.co.uk for those inerested in the steel conservation rooflight. When I come to my outbuildings, that's the sort of thing I would like to consider; they seem far more sympathetic than the wooden alternatives like Velux. They're entirely Bristish made according to the website too.

Incidentally - I think you mean "ensure" not "insure" in the 3rd last paragraph - proofreaders, eh? :roll:

As interesting as the articles are, am I the only one that feels that these articles feel closer to advertorial than editorial?

Maybe that's why they're referred to as "sponsored articles"? As with any advertorial, I guess one can take the info that's offered (ta very much 8) ) and then shop around.

I take the point about sponsored articles. I guess, unreasonably, I had higher expectations from PP than this - perhaps more specialist information, more expert insight conveyed than:

"Where sections need to be replaced, the installation of rainwater goods should always be carried out by a competent person. William Fuller, Managing Director of Fullers Builders, one of London’s most experience specialist builder contractors advises:

“The location of the installation should be thoroughly surveyed beforehand to accurately quantify the goods required and to determine the access equipment needed, noting any potential hazards that may arise during the installation. The existing installation can then be removed and the timber and masonry substrates inspected, repaired and redecorated as necessary to provide sound fixing locations for the new rainwater goods.”

PPUK needs to make some money - otherwise we wouldn't have a forum in which to congregate. On that basis, I was very happy to read the articles and let Simon know I had done so. They have their limitations, and anyone net-savvy enough to find them will surely do further net research into alternatives. I think the term "sponsored articles" makes it clear enough that these are advertorial.
