Turret clock

I dare say some of you have turrets just crying out for a clock.
Or perhaps a house with an open gallery?

Anyway, somewhere to put this

Perhaps fortunately, I have nowhere to put it, otherwise I would have been tempted

It's very tempting.
I built a clock tower some years ago, and made a working clock using an old Smiths electric movement.
The motor etc is the size of an alarm clock, but on the outside i have a 3 foot dial with elegant hands cut out of sheet aluminium, and carefully balanced so that the motor has enough power to turn them.
Frequent power cuts are a nuisance, because I had to glue up the friction device to stop it slipping, so the clock has to be restarted at the precise moment when the hands are showing the correct time.
But it fools everyone who passes.

The snag with the real clock in the link is that obviously it is made to pass through a two foot stone wall. The walls at the top of my tower are 1/2" plywood.

Also the dial is a bit small.
I wonder what it will fetch?

Nice item, but....

a) Looks very over-restored to me - it might just as well be new
b) It would look even better back where it belongs. I wonder if they got LBC?

This clock was made for the great tythe barn in tetbury gloucestershire By The famous cotswold clock maker joseph tanner who died in 1867 and was a prolific maker of longcase, wall and public clocks such as this one. The great tythe barn is a 16th century grade ii listed cotswold stone barn details and history can be seen at http://www.gtb.co.uk/.

This clock was replaced by an electric clock when they renovated the property and i have been lucky enough to be the proud owner of it but i have to let it go as i have nowhere to put it

Wouldn't it be nice if it was someone who lurks here, would love to see where it goes. Being fresh out of turrets I decided not to bid :lol: I would like a nice bracket clock though, something that would match with a stick barometer
