Perhaps the council will build another 600 houses in the same way as those two they have sold, at least they will be sure that they will last for at least 5/600 years.

How have the council managed to let the houses become derelict?
Surely the conservation department would be involved, and could have intervened sooner?

lovely looking building though, it would be interesting to see if listed building consent was applied for to do any works!!!

They don't look derelict - possibly the forty grand was required to keep them in good repair.

More likely 40k to "improve" them to the "standards" council tenants are assumed to want (ie just like a new W*mp*y or B*rr*tt hutch)

I believe there's an incentive for housing associations (and councils?) to sell off their best properties as the revenue enables them to get extra government funding for new build.
