Our neighbour's submitted a planning application for various works including a large outbuilding. We've been asked to submit comments by the council but the plans are not professionally drawn. They're really ruler and pencil drawings and are inconsistent from one drawing to another. The scale is marked as 1:50 and that's all the information there is about sizes. To make matters worse, there's no indication of ground level as he's been doing ground works for over a year. The shed affects us because it runs along our boundary. Depending on what drawing you look at the roofline rises over a 6m length of either 60cm or 1.2m from one end to the other. There are existing walls drawn on the plan that, when measured, are 1.8m high but in reality are 1.1m high which means that we he will be able to see over them directly across our garden even though the plans imply he won't be able to. I asked the planners about this and they said it's hard to tell, it's probably just a mistake but how are we supposed to make reasoned judgement about these works? The plans should surely have been refused. The stupid thing is that there are ways that this outbuilding could be built that wouldn't impact us at all and we would have no objection but, as it stands, it might affect our garden quite badly. The neighbour seems not to be able to understand that we have a vested interest in our property and has been, at best, evasive towards us in the past when we've mentioned it. Is there a way we can make it clear that the plans aren't good enough to form any conclusion?
