Trellis

Hi All

I need some trellis to fit to an existing door canopy. I have spoken to our local blacksmith about welding up some steel but it will be expensive and heavy.

Wooden trellis will not last as well as metal and will be hard to replace once plants are growing through it.

What would you do, and does anyione have any snaps of door canolpies with trellis please?

Our last house had one, but I'm afraid I don't have any photos. It was all a bit the worse for wear, but still very attractive and we kept vowing to 'so something about it' but somehow never got round to it.
As I remember, the trellis was little more than very thick, crimped, wire that was fixed to the framework either by some sort of rivets or it might have been welded.
What we liked about it was the fact that the although the sides were solid (or as solid as a trellis could be), the front face was a sort of simple arch, as wide as the front door.

Hi - I have used the company called 'Garden Requisites' to make a new canopy for my cottage front door. They are a small company and do work for the National Trust - I found them to be most helpful.I know from their brochure that they make wirework 'trellis' and they would very likely make up panels to dimensions you send them to fit to your canopy. I chose the 'aged' finish for my canopy and it looks just great.
