Hi Dianne, would help to know what region you are in if you want a local one rather than online. Depending what kind of stuff you're after, in my very limited experience a local blacksmith is usually the cheapest and also the best quality supplier you'll find. The stuff we've bought online has either been pretty shoddy when it arrived, or hideously expensive for the higher end stuff. We've had wall lights, curtain poles, tie backs etc all made by blacksmiths that have been far superior and cheaper than most weve bought elsewhere.
Hello Dianne,
We bought hinges and a latch from this company as their prices were reasonable. The quality seems good to my inexpert eye and I would happily order from them again.
Hope that helps!
The Old House Store stock various bits made by a real blacksmith; I think most of what they do in this line is door/gate furniture - I bought a very nice Suffolk latch. If you want something they don't stock, you could ask if they could do it or refer you to the blacksmith - nothing to lose.
