When the site was modernised a while back someone suggested that a 'Tips' section could be a useful reference for newcomers and perhaps also some of the older hands. The idea wasn't taken up at the time, probably because of the technical difficulties involved is setting up and maintaining such a resource, however there may just be a way to do it that requires no intervention or maintenance; just a little discipline. My thinking is that the topic line can be structured using a simple convention like this 'Topic Title = <Class Name> - <Division> - '.
For example, a topic may be labeled as ' Tips - Timber Frame Houses-Roof' or 'Timber Frame Houses-infill Panels-Gaps'
Another example, and based on Twigs new thread concerning damp, could be 'Tips - Damp-Walls
If this idea works the content would, I think, be self organising and could also include a scoring system using the 'Like' button.
A bit more thought may be needed regarding specific labels but at present I see nothing that would prevent something like this working.
What do you all think?
I'm going to add a simple one to kick things off and see what kind of response it gets.
