In my 1802 mid terrace I are now going to be replacing my 1960s timber casements with a more traditional style. The original house did not have any windows in the now front elevation but were put in 1966 and are wider than tall, so I came up with a design that gets rid of the nice top opening vents and has just 3 equal windows with 1 horizontal glazing bar they will also be flush closing with hidden storm seal (I have seen some local to me that look nice and simple on more the modest cottages).
My question is what profile would a glazing bar have from this period and is having 1 bar more traditional than the multi pane types you see in many off the shelf windows that look bland to me. Quite a few places near me have multi pane 16 over 16 sashes but I am sure they are replacements from 1970s (some locals also tell me this).
They are going to be made by a good friend but he is from another part of the country were local detail my be diffrent to N Essex so we are just checking.
