Timber flooring

My Daughter is intending to have an timber floor laid in her lounge of her Edwardian property. At some point the floor has been laid down with concrete screed and she wants to have the timber floor laid on top of this. I imagine it will be laid upon batons. Leads much appreciated for suppliers and installers for the flooring, the job amounts to about 40 s/m. Thank you.

Why not do a bit of excavation in an inconspicuous corner, to discover what's under the concrete screed (if, indeed, it is just a screed and not a couple of feet of poured concrete).

My Daughters home is in Brentford.

It is an concrete floor with an smooth top screed, no way do they intend or wish to dig this up, rather lay on top. Has anyone any tips or hints as to timber flooring please.
