I'm new to the forum, so hello everyone
I'm looking for some advice about a timber bay window in a Victorian house. It is in very poor condition, with much of the paint work cracked and flaking and large areas where the wood is very soft. I've had a window renovation chap out to have a look and whilst he said he could try and repair, this probably wouldn't be very cost effective. He recommended that I get a quote for a replacement window, so I've had a well regarded local joinery company out to quote for a replacement timber bay with the stained glass panels at the top encapsulated in double glazed units. Their lead time is several months, so I'm wondering how best to go about looking after the window over the winter months. Is it worth giving the window a lick of paint to see it through the winter, or would I be wasting time, effort and money that would be better spent on something else?
Thanks in advance for any advice
