Tile paint ? Tile wax ??

The Husband finished polishing the cast iron fireplace in his study and it looks fab. While he's experiencing Real Life weatherwise in Yorkshire for a week and downing some brew called Black Sheep he assures me is " amazing", I thought I'd tart up the hearth as a surprise.

So, I have to say that (a) it looks original to me and (b) suspiciously like concrete, with a red finish on it. It's a sort of dull matt red, on the quarry tile end of the colour spectrum. Is there a specialist paint or wax available please ?

PS If it came in black that would be great as I fear it may clash horribly with his walls

Um my great failing (besides being unable to draw) is not knowing how to upload photos, but even if I could manage that, this laptop doesn't have the Nokia software or PhotoShop on it sorry.

I wonder whether you're looking at a Cardinal Red polished surface.

I have posted about Tableau before and was going to say that I have only used the polish on my floor tiles but thye do a liquid too - costs about a fiver

Just wanted a pic to see if the hearth looked like tableau might work - Edwardia said it was concrete?
